Eliminate the wireless connection and hardware. Wireless and powerline connections can cause intermittent failures due to interference. Posted 16 July - AM. I hope this is the correct forum for this post. I have a Dell Series laptop running windows 10 and until recently I didn't have an issue with my bandwidth but now, I am getting all Mbps on every device except the one I actually need it on I am only getting 32 Mbps period on this laptop, no more, no less.
So, I believe something in the computer is limiting my bandwidth. My upload speed is fine at Mbps, it's just my download speed. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the network adapter, reset the network, and even reset the winsock entries and IPv4 and IPv6 stacks with no luck.
I have deleted numerous apps, restarted the computer, and cycled the modem and router. If this laptop had an ethernet port, I would plug it directly in just to check that way. I am completely frustrated at this point.

You are right, but there are situations where the local setup may play a role. If you upgraded to Windows 10, had great speed before and afterwards not so much, then it seems likely that the upgrade may have something to do with it.

I did notice some odd behavior in Windows 10 but got solved by itself. The latest upgrade corrupted Edge browser in my profile so I had to create a new one. This worked for me. Extremely low. This article proved to be a timely find. Made this change; system now stable touch wood! And the internet speed, which before had seemed quite noticeably sluggish compared to my other devices, is as good as the rest. Setting this to disabled caused a massive drop in speed for me. If your download speed has been significantly slow and you saw no change in speed after restarting, it may be time for a new modem.
If your speed increases when you are directly next to the modem, this is a good sign, in which case your router may be the issue. As mentioned, the router allows you to extend your connectivity range. If your device is too far away from the router, this could be impacting your download speed.
